04/01/12 Yogi’s neck has healed up great, he is now full of life and has gone
on a trial to his new home. We still have to wait to hear from the Vet and
Police to say whether they could find Yogi’s owners or not before he can
officially be adopted.
27/01/12
Yogi left the vets today. Unfortunately as the swelling had gone down now on his neck a microchip has been found, the vets are suspicious that whoever had Yogi might have tried to remove the microchip to prevent him being traced back to them and this is the reason Yogi got this terrible infection. Yogi is now in a safe foster home where he is receiving daily care and a lot of love. The Town Hall of Rojales are now trying to locate the owners but until then Yogi will continue to be well cared for and hopefully in time up for adoption to a loving new family.

We
have purchased a microchip reader. With this we can establish if a stray pet has
a chip, subsequently, if it has escaped and is lost, we can quickly return a pet
to its owner and prevent it being taken away to an unknown or unsuitable
location.

When
we went to the Vet clinic to collect Harry the Pointer (see below) we saw this
English Staffie in the clinic. We were told that it was abandoned at Playa
Flamenca outside a supermarket. She was tied up with a bowl of food and water
next to her! We are now appealing for someone to come forward to foster her. She
is a lovely friendly girl and we would very much like to see her moved to a
foster home or a new permanent home. Please call 654 027 748 for more
information or email us
UPDATE: We found this beautiful girl a home.

It was discovered
that Yogi the gentle Mastin has a big abscess on his neck and needs to stay in
the animal hospital for a few days with a drain in his neck. We went back the
following day to collect Buddy the small brown dog, the vet then told us Yogi is
not getting any better and the abscess may be the result of a tumour, the vets
are going to wait till Monday to see if he gets any better and for the results
of a biopsy. Will publish an
update when we know more.

A
couple of days ago we heard about a dog that had been sent to IPA animal
crematorium, the only thing we knew about this dog was he looked like a big
Polar Bear. We called the manager of IPA and asked if it was ok for us to come
and see the dog and try to re-home it. When we arrived there we saw this huge
dog with 2 other dogs in cages outside. We decided we couldn’t just take Yogi the bear and put
a plea on facebook for foster homes for all 3 dogs, we immediately found a
permanent home for Harry the Pointer and a foster home for Yogi, it took me a
few more hours to find a foster home for Buddy the smaller brown dog but in the
end secured places for all 3 dogs. It was arranged that the dogs would go to the
vets to be checked over and then they could go to collect them and move them to
foster homes.
Update
on Tito the Labrador. He sadly passed
away on the 4th January. It was discovered he had cancerous tumours on his
kidneys and testicles. We were extremely sad when we got this news but
thankful to the family that gave him the best few months of his life. Pedro
missed Tito so much and a couple of weeks later we found him a new friend,
Canela the labrador. 07/10/11
Pedro with his new ball.
We have fantastic news regarding Tito and Pedro, they have gone to a new home together. A lady in Quesada got in touch yesterday and said she would like them both, we are overjoyed as now they will remain best of friends forever instead of being separated. Tito is also much better today, he is walking without pain, his wounds are not as inflamed and he is even trying to play, the blood test results will be in soon but we are hopeful his leishmaniosis will not be too serious and kept under control with a tablet a day. To view a video of Tito and Pedro in their new home CLICK HERE On behalf of the Pets In Spain Team we would like to thank you all so much for your kind donations, we managed to raise 212.48€ and the vet bill came out at 220.87€

Update
on Tito the Golden Labrador: We took him to the vet today and he was
given a leishmaniosis and a heart worm blood test. The heartworm test was
negative and the Lleishmaniosis test was positive. A sample of his blood has now
been sent to the laboratory to find out how bad he has the disease. The vet then
said his sight is not good, however, with the prescribed treatment this may
improve if we have caught it in time. All his wounds were cleaned, he was given
an anti-inflammatory injection, anti-biotic injection and cream for the sores
all over his body. He also has a bad flea allergy which has aggravated his
sores. His nails had grown into his pads and that caused him a lot of pain when
the vet removed them. We were quite surprised to hear he is only 4 years old. We
then bought anti-mosquito Scalibor collars, Frontline combo for the fleas, and
worming tablets. Tito’s wounds have to be cleaned 3 times a day, the cream
applied and given anti biotic tablets. We really need to find Tito a foster home
as he is still in the garden where he was abandoned. The neighbour is going to
do as much as she can but Tito needs someone who can provide him with more
individual care. I am pleading you and all charities to PLEASE ask around and
find him a foster home where he can recover. Tito and Pedro are such nice boys,
they are good with dogs and like their neighbours cat too, but most of all they
love people....PLEASE HELP TITO! To see a video of Tito getting his wounds cleaned please CLICK HERE

This poor boy has been abandoned by his owners, they just packed up and left the country. He was left in the garden with another dog, both are Golden Labradors. The neighbour called us and informed us about them. She told us that neither of them has ever seen a vet. This is Tito and he has lesions all over his body. We want to get him treated ASAP but no one will pay for this. Please can you help by donating a small amount for his treatment, blood tests are also necessary for both these dogs. Vaccinations will be needed and if we get enough funds they can be neutered. If you don’t have a Paypal account you can donate by bank transfer, or you can call into Veterpet next to Mercadona in La Marina and leave a donation there. Just tell them it’s for the Pets In Spain Golden Labrador dogs needing treatment, then inform us, or you can email us and we can arrange to collect your donation if you are local to La Marina urbanisation. |
